To confirm Registration for a sailing trip, please meet us at Sonoma County Vet Connect. We are at Vet Connect each Tuesday morning from 9am-12noon at the Veterans building in Santa Rosa, CA., just north of Sonoma County Fairgrounds.

Our usual trip duration is about three hours. For some, simply sitting in the boat can be the first step in regaining a sense of peace. On subsequent trips, you learn seamanship and boat handling. When ready, you can hoist the sails, take the helm and learn navigation, all the while working as part of a team, communicating with others, and regaining those all-important life skills that will enable you to reconnect with family and friends and be effective in your job.

At the end of the sail, after clean up of the boat, we take some time to debrief, to talk about how the sailing day went for everyone. Depending on the interest of everyone, we may talk about the activities of sailing the boat, or more personal side of their time sailing with us. We know that we are making a difference when we see you smiling as you leave the boat, and when we see you progressing on subsequent sails.

Our Fleet

Docked in Fort Baker

The Amakua

This 42 ft Sparkman and Stephens designed cruising sailboat. She is a graceful classic ocean racer strongly built of fiberglass in 1970. With the way Amakua is rigged, including a roller furler jib and newer sails, she is very easy to handle for our crew and novice guest sailors. This boat is stable yet responsive, fast and fun to sail. The spray dodger keeps all aboard in the cockpit out of the wind and spray. With the spacious cockpit and comfortable warm cabin down below, there is room for up to twelve on board. Our engine is a 42 hp diesel we can count on when we need it.

Join us sailing on The Amakua, and find out why she is such a joy to sail.
